About Dr. Naz
I hold a PhD degree in Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy, awarded with honours by Heidelberg University, Germany. I was appointed as an Associate Professor both in Turkey and UAE, teaching and supervising future psychologists alongside my clinical and research work.
Clinical Practice
My clinical practice draws on 20 years of experience in inpatient and outpatient care across public hospitals and private clinics. The past six years have been based in Dubai, first at the German Neuroscience Center and, for the past two years, at The Psychiatry & Therapy Centre.
Research
Since 2010, my research has centred on the relationships between culture, mental health and emotions: how people experience and express distress, regulate their emotions and seek support within different cultural contexts. These questions remain central to both my research and clinical perspective.
Books and Academic ArticlesTeaching
My contribution to psychology education spans undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral teaching, the supervision of early-career psychologists and programme development. At Işık University in Istanbul, this included serving as Vice-Chair of the Department of Psychology, helping establish the graduate clinical psychology programme and co-founding the university counselling centre.
Beyond the therapy room
Pill-Sized Psychology is a free space for sharing accessible psychological knowledge about everyday life. It explores how greater awareness of the behaviours we repeat each day, together with small changes in how we respond, can develop into lasting change.
